Fantastic 'Phants!

One of my nephews is having his first birthday in May.  My sister hand made all of her invitations.  (It isn't a big too-doo, so we're not talking 50+ invitations or anything but still up to 20 maybe.)  She's been loving her Promarker AquaMarkers by Letraset that she picked up at Scrapfest Kitchener.  She used them to colour this elephant stamp by Hot off the Press.

I can see this little guy done in all kinds of colours: yellow, purple, grey, brown, even a white elephant with just some very faint blue or grey accent lines might look great on an all white card.  Even a pink elephant would work for girls.  I like that elephants are gender neutral and you choose to dress up the surroundings can make it more feminine or masculine.

So, I told my sister about the Kards for Kids donation call.  A person in Oshawa collects donated cards, sorts them by recipient (parents or kids and sorts through different age brackets) and then delivers them to the Toronto Sick Kids Hospital.  I saw the Christmas call, but I didn't have an appropriate High Hopes Rubber Stamp to use, so I couldn't enter.  I didn't see a stamp restriction on this one, so I called up my sister and said she should make some more elephants for the kids.  I'm hoping to also donate some cards, but it will depend how fast I can create in May.  April is totally shot until May 2nd - our 2011 Canadian tax filing deadline (since April 30 falls on a weekend.)

It's hard to tell in the photo, but my sister cut around the elephant and popped it up on foam tape.  When I look at it in a room the little shadow under his butt makes him look like he is really sitting there!  It's quite cute.  She also used Glossy Accents on his eyeball and bow (which you also can't see in the photo).  Glossy Accents is a glue that hardens clear like an epoxy sticker finish (or clear embossing).  I convinced her to buy a bottle when I bought my first bottle.  Well, she beat me to its use!  (Thank goodness ONE of us is creating this April or I'd have nothing to post about!)

If you're a cardmaker, or even if you have excess cards made from before, consider donating to this cause, won't you?

  6. Anonymous asking about the blog: it's just a template from blogger. I didn't really do much at all! Thanks for the compliment though.
